Presentation DescriptionEvery industry sector is at risk of a cyberattack, even those in the building industry. Hawaii’s general contractors, the trades, architects and others must comply with cybersecurity requirements to secure federal projects to grow and diversify their businesses. Yet, many small and midsize businesses struggle with being able to demonstrate compliance, which disqualifies them from doing business with the military.
With an estimated $1.55 billion in military construction allocated for Hawaii in FY 2025, the most of any state, Hawaii companies must be prepared to meet these new cybersecurity requirements. There is an urgent need for compliance. In FY 2025, the Department of Defense’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program is expected to become federal law. All contractors, regardless of size, who handle Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) will be required to meet these requirements over time. This presentation will focus on the requirements for CMMC compliance and resources that are available to help Hawaii businesses. |
